Method

The grade is computed by fixed rules. Each area gets points from 0 to 100, and the points are weighted. Between the thresholds the points run smoothly, so a company with 38 % equity gets nearly the same as one with 40 %, not a whole step less. A missing area is left out and its weight shared among the rest. A is 80 points or more, B 65, C 50, D 35, and E below that.

Solidity (30 %): equity ratio. 0 % gives 25 points, 10 % gives 45, 20 % gives 65, 30 % gives 85 and 40 % or more gives 100, smoothly in between. Negative equity gives 0.
Liquidity (20 %): current ratio. 0.5 gives 10 points, 0.8 gives 40, 1.0 gives 55, 1.2 gives 70, 1.5 gives 85 and 2.0 or more gives 100, smoothly in between.
Profitability (20 %): average of operating and profit margin. 0 % gives 55 points, 5 % gives 80 and 10 % or more gives 100, smoothly in between. A negative margin gives 15.
Size and capacity (10 %): the largest Doffin contract against revenue. Under 10 % gives 100 points, under 30 % gives 70, under 60 % gives 40, otherwise 15. Without contracts revenue counts: 1 MNOK gives 50, 10 MNOK gives 70, 50 MNOK gives 85 and 1,000 MNOK or more gives 100, smoothly in between.
Experience from public contracts (20 %): contracts won in Doffin in the last five years. 10 or more gives 100 points, 3 gives 85 and 1 gives 65. Contracts from at least three different buyers give 10 points extra. No contracts do not count: many sound companies do not sell to the public sector, so the area is left out and its weight shared among the rest.

Hard signals override: bankruptcy or winding-up gives E, negative equity at most D, and missing annual accounts at most C.
